From Uncertainty To Certainty

Mohammed Imran - Intern at The Financial Doctors

Mohammed Imran

Having studied science during my schooling, I had absolutely zero knowledge about the field of Finance and Business. I decided to pursue Business Administration, instead of the “popular” Engineering courses, at Hyderabad. While the academic curriculum introduced me to business and finance theoretical knowledge, I felt something was missing. My inquisitive nature pushed me to explore opportunities which would help fill up the learning void.

And then, I was selected for interning at The Financial Doctors as a Financial Markets Trainee and Technical Strategy Developer. This instance eventually transformed my career uncertainty to certainty!

I was little nervous about my next move. I’m known as an aggressive debater, a passionate public speaker and a bibliophile and the only question which initially popped in my mind was, “Would I really fit into this field?”

Today, five weeks later, I can say that I don’t just fit in here, rather I can flourish here!

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the experience was so splendid that it saw me learning something new every day, throughout the tenure.

They say change is the only constant, I have seen my own self changing. Rewind. The first week of June had me looking at the market chart with a question mark face. Fast forward to today, I don’t just watch the charts but also analyse them and develop my own unique trading strategy! All thanks to the mentoring provided by Mr. Vishwa Kalra- who, according to me, is equally a competent trader and a highly capable trainer!

The internship program ensured that today, I don’t just walk out with practical trading know-how but also with some new friends from Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Haryana, Gujarat, etc.

It also made me realize the fact that not everything can be found in books. Books alone can never prepare you for the ‘practical’ real world. I come from the city of pearls, the city which is candidly known as “the second paradise for Indian IT folks.” And not many here know, let alone experience the beauty, of the Financial Markets and related career opportunities. This internship program is thus an encouragement to learn, explore one’s career avenues in Financial Markets. I would strongly recommend students to always do internships like these as they prepare you for lifetime and not exam time.

As I’m currently specializing in Finance and Marketing, I’ve dreamt of being a part of and grow holistically in the corporate world. That being said, the opportunity at TFD has made this dream much realizable, all thanks to the practical learning and exposure. I’m confident that one day, I shall look back to my internship stint as a stepping stone which helped me reach greater heights.

My sincerest thanks to my dear mentor, Mr. Vishwa Kalra and The Financial Doctors organisation for this wonderful opportunity, for believing in me and recognising me for my performance.

From uncertainty to certainty, it’s been an enriching journey of five weeks, which would last for a lifetime!
