Ruchita Garg - Intern at The Financial Doctors

To begin with, let me tell you about my childhood dream to become an archaeologist. Yes, nothing related to finance or commerce was my initial dream. Then I opted for commerce in my high school because humanities doesn’t sound good and science (chemistry mainly) was way out of my league. 11th standard passed away in a blink of an eye and then came the dreadful 12th where I actually got serious about my studies. This is when I realised that commerce is actually interesting. We learnt about the kind of shares and the financial markets for the first time and I did not understand a thing at first but started understanding after a certain period of time. Scored a decent 95.25% and got admission in Delhi University. While preparing for my entrances I attended this workshop which gave me an insight about the course chartered financial analyst (CFA). After that, I was hooked. I decided that this is the field I want to work in. After giving a few NCFM certifications, I came upon this internship of The Financial Doctors through my college’s internship cell and I am glad (really glad) that I applied for it and got selected. This internship has helped me gain such wonderful knowledge about financial markets that I don’t think I would’ve gained otherwise, not in my 2nd year atleast but maybe later. Mr. Vishwa Kalra is such an amazing mentor. He’ll clarify your every doubt no matter how stupid it may sound. He helped us understand the charts and how to trade. Though initially, I did not make profits and was not very constant in my trading numbers but then he gave a detailed summary of how I am trading and how I should trade. It really helped me. To be honest, it does get disappointing when you’re making losses and start thinking maybe you are not made for this field but trust me once you get it, you’ll fly high. Now, I know when to and how to take a trade. Finance is the most interesting field according to me. As sir said, “You can work till 35, and enjoy the rest of your life!”
